Advent Calendar

I wanted to share my idea for an Advent Calendar. This is the 3rd year we have used this Advent Stocking Calendar that I made. The boys love it. Each stocking is filled with a piece of candy that can be eaten each day to mark getting closer to Christmas. I made it out of infant white socks that I dyed red. Then I decorated each stocking with goodies from craft stores. I use the little clothes pins to hold the stockings on a string of twine.

We will start using the stockings tomorrow!!! Do you have any special ways to mark getting closer to Christmas Day?

I still have the calendars my great grandmother made us! we haven't used them in several years though...

one year my kids made posterboard calendars for the neighbor kids. they glued on library pockets. each one held an index card w/ part of the story of the birth of Jesus. Into each pocket went candy canes for the kids to eat while listening to the story each day. good way to witness to others!

What a cute idea. You are Miss Clever. I usually just scream something about OH MY how many more days til Christmas????? Then I get back in the fetal position until sometime in January.

You are so crafty!! That is such a cute idea. I just have a little wooden Santa w/ a reindeer and Snowman that counts the days off with stars. Not terribly crafty, but somewhat cute. I know your boys will appreciate all the work you put into making their holidays extra special.
