"One of Those Days"

Why I should win "Mom of the Day" or " I've Gotta It Together" award today...

1. I let my boys sleep until 15 minutes before they needed to be at school
2. I didn't wash my face this morning...just slung some eye makeup and lipstick on
3. I let my boys have a Pop Tart again today (whole wheat!)
4. I downed 2 cups of coffee- No breakfast
5. I let the K-man wear the shirt he slept in to school (not the schoolish uniform)
6. The boys did not get their teeth brushed (Did I brush my teeth???)
7. The boys did not get their hair combed
8. I left them both tearful at school
9. I grabbed a LARGE fountain drink at the gas station before work (Non-Diet BIG RED!)
AND...10. They are watching TV while I type this.

Don't freak out adorable husband and grandparents! I'm totally sure they will survive the rest of the day...Everyone has "one of those days", right?

You gotta be kidding-

Today while running a few quick errands...I stopped to try a new place to get my eyebrows done(yes, another eyebrow saga). I am so tired of driving 45 minutes just for a 10 minute eyebrow wax! So, I walk in confidently (knowing I have had so many mishaps with "the brow" when trying new places) and sit in the little chair with my eyes squeezed tightly...Please, Please don't mess up my bushy, haven't had them done in over a month and a half eyebrows!

When I get done I pay a whopping $15 dollars (without the tip!). Here is the best part...I look in the mirror in the car and "the brow" doesn't look any different!!! WHAT~! I 'm not kidding they are still bushy! I knew it wasn't painful enough AND I paid $15! That's the most I've ever paid and for NOTHING!!! Seriously, that is more then my boys haircuts!!!

I know what your thinking- why didn't I look at them before I walked out? Well, because I thought I might cry on the spot if a got another line for an eyebrow and I wanted to wait until I got in the car.

Why are my eyebrows so tough? Am I crazy, or am I the only one that has brow issues? Maybe I should just do them myself...

I'm a Soccer Mom!

I'm a Soccer Mom!
Thanks to the Sweet K-Man!
I didn't know how fun it would be to have a child in an organized (Ha!) sport!
soc·cer mom
(plural soc·cer moms) n mother occupied with children's leisure activities: a mother who devotes herself to her children's leisure activities, e.g. driving them to and from sports activities

To be honest, it has been a rough go for the last couple of weeks. K. has cried the first part of every practice to the point I didn't even take him to one because he was falling a part before we even loaded in the car! BUT after some bribery (a trip to the dollar store) we had a good practice yesterday and today... (with the help of a cool BLUE soccer uniform and complete with BLUE socks to match his BLUE and orange ball)

we had a great first game!

My adorable husband talked the K-man through what would happen during the game and where he needed to stand just so we wouldn't have a breakdown with tears when the whistle blew.

Notice Little Bit...he's ready to be out there with the big boys too!

The K-man started as goalie.
Yes, I actually got a picture of him capturing a ball while I was strongly encouraging loudly from the sidelines...Have I said that I am having a blast as a soccer mom?

Here is more coaching from my adorable husband.

This happened throughout the game...anyone surprised? After the game my adorable husband asked K. if he heard him yelling during the game- K. replied "yes!" I casually gave the K-Man a hug and told him..."This is only the beginning sweetie!"

Really, my adorable husband did wonderful, but I know the game probably wore him out more then the K-man!

Here is an action shot that I am very proud of.

Again, I got this picture while taking pictures with a camera, filming with a video camera, making encouraging comments, chasing Little Bit around...Have I said that I LOVE being a soccer mom? Can't wait until next game!

Go number 7!

The Crafter in Me!

I don't know what it is about the fall like weather and the whole fall season, but I get pumped up about crafts and decorating! The latest has been these Halloween pillow cases and Pjs I made for the boys.
Here is a closer look at the flying bats- how fun! I loved the material. The K-man did great picking them out!
The boys couldn't wait to wear them and I couldn't wait to see them in them! Too Cute!
Here is my decorating -Ha! HANDS!
I love this idea and it really helped fill in an odd size spare wall!
I will always treasure the small hands on my wall!
What have you been crafting?
Any Simple decorating ideas?

Just Reading...

It has been a busy couple of days for many reasons. Like many moms, for me each day has many trials...you know what they are. Some seem huge and others are small. For me, yesterday was FULL of them! I handled some trials with grace and others with too little patience. However, when my head hit the pillow last night I knew God had been with me all day. He showed me my blessings throughout the day even through my tears and the tears of others. I am blessed. Instead of sharing the dramatics of my day yesterday (which many of you would get a good laugh at)...I want to fill your thoughts with a challenging thought I came across here the other day.

What are your thoughts about the blog post?

Pre-K Blues

I'm a bit sad this morning...I dropped the K-man off at Pre-K with him in tears. It's so hard because he's the sensitive one of the bunch. He only goes three days a week and for him it can be such a big deal. I keep telling myself that this is good for him because it will make his Kindergarten year much easier on him, but YUCK- it doesn't feel good for either one of us now! He's happy when we pick him up, but getting him there can be a bit of a challenge. Hang in there K-Man.

Any advice for this first round mother?

Summer Bible Reading Club 2008

Summer Bible Reading Program 2008
"Wild about God's Word"

This is the bulletin board we used to watch our children's animals move to their goal.

We feel strongly that God and His Word needs to be center of our family.

"These commands that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Teach them to your children, and talk about them when you sit at home and walk along the road. When you lie down and when you get up. Write them down and tie them to your hands as a sign. Tie them on your forehead to remind you and write them on your doors and gates."

Deuteronomy 6:7-8

One way we have tried to work on this is through a Summer Bible Reading Program. We encouraged adults, children, and families to read daily through Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts for 2 months this summer and then recognize those who completed the program.

We felt the program was a HUGE success for the first year. We had around 80 sign up (27 children and 53 adults) from our small congregation. The picture is of some of the children who participated in the SBRP.

Here are the 8 children who completed the program by reading or being read the Bible. They received a medal that had the following inscription on the back:

"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."

Psalm 119:105

Here are my sweet boys who participated and completed the SBRP. We read to the boys around 2 chapters of the Bible a night. We made it a time of devotion with singing and prayer.

"Train up a child in the way he should he should go,

Even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Proverbs 22:6

Sometimes we just need to get in the routine of reading the Bible daily...

Sometimes we just need a goal to start reading the Bible daily...

Sometimes we just need encouragement to have a devotional time at home with our families...

This is what we hoped to accomplish with this years Summer Bible Reading Program- If you would like to know more about the details of this program just let me know!
