Talking Like a Lady

To continue with the "Like a Lady" thoughts here are the things that stuck out most to me regarding Talking Like a Lady.

2. Talking Like a Lady
"She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue."
Proverbs 31:26
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that is may benefit those who listen."
Ephesians 4:29
  • While these scriptures encourage us to "talk" with Wisdom and to be Helpful with our words and to Build each other up- we have a tendency to use our "talk" or words to be harmful and to hurt.
  • Ways to NOT talk like a lady:

1. To have a lying tongue (Proverbs 6:16-19)

2. To be a gossip (Luke 18:9-14)

3. To grumble and complain (Philippians 2:14)

  • Ways that were presented to avoid harmful talk:

1. Be aware of what you say

2. Pray the scriptures: "May the words of my mouth and the mediation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14

3. Pray often to control your tongue

4. Remember Philippians 4:13- "...I can do everything through him who gives me strength."

5. Fill your heart with goodness and goodness will come out. (Matthew 12:34-35)

As Ladies we can be helpful or harmful with our words. We need to make a choice to speak with words of wisdom, and with the goal of being beneficial to those around us. Speak with helpful words to our husbands, children, families, friends and strangers.

"But I tell you that men will have to give an account for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted and by your words you will be condemned." Matthew 12:36-37

"Dear Father, help me to be a woman after your own heart. I want to use my words to build up my husband, children and those around me. I want my words to be a light in the darkness. I love you, Father. Amen."

Walking Like a Lady

Recently, I attended a Ladies Retreat encouraging us to be the "Ladies" God desires for us to be. The weekend was so uplifting and refreshing for me that I want to share some thoughts with you. It also gives me another chance to meditate on the scriptures that were presented. The topics included: Walking Like a Lady, Talking Like a Lady, Sitting Like a Lady, Dressing Like a Lady, Acting like a Lady, Thinking like a Lady, and Worshiping like a Lady.

1. Walking Like a Lady
"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden." Matthew 5:14

  • We are called to walk in the Light and in turn we are able to be the Light in the world.

"Anyone who claims to be in the light, but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness: he does not know where he is going because the darkness has blinded him." 1John 2:9-11

"And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love." 2John 1:6

  • We can only walk in the light if we also walk in love
As Ladies...We need to walk in Light and Love.
My hope is to continue sharing these thoughts with you over the next few days.
" Dear Father, I want to walk with you daily. I want to feel and see your light. I want to learn to love as you love so that my path may be clear and straight. I want to walk with you, Father.Amen."

What was your guess?

Do you remember guessing what was in those boxes ? BUNKBEDS!!

I still have some decorating "things" I would like to add and change, but the boys love them! They have claimed the shelves that are also their head boards for their special things, which I think is wonderful. K-man changes his often and Little Bit is very clear that those things on his shelf are "mine". On a side note: My adorable husband did a GREAT job putting them together!

Never Enough Love

I just couldn't let the month of love pass on by without a few more crafty things!
I made these quick little hand prints of the boys to hang on door knobs in our home.
You can never have to many hand prints of your children in your home!

Here are the valentine cards I sent out to some special people this year.
I decided I wouldn't grow weary that the boys weren't wanting me to make them "cute" Valentine cards this year...I just sent my own!

However, I did sneak a little "cute" in! I attached these little frogs on their valentines they handed out a school (Hee Hee!)

This jar of goodies went to my secret prayer sister at church...SHHHHHH!

I also decided to make cookies for the boys teachers at school!
(no worries I made enough for all three of my boys to enjoy with a HUGE glass of milk!)

In the cookies went...

And then close goes the box!
Here is a batch of pictures taken by ALL the valentine good mail that was received over the last couple of day! The boys are so loved! Thank you Auntie Lindsey and Uncle Corey, Gramzie and PawPaw, Grammie and Poppa, AND Great Granny and Great Gandpa! I will being sending the wired, sugar high children to you!!!!

I also got some good mail today from a special friend!
Nothing like a little good mail to make your day brighter!

I hope you are enjoying this fun month!
What special things have you done?

Anxious

I have been a bit anxious about things lately. With the boys both being sick (one getting over pneumonia), my adorable husband's unpredictable work schedule, and activities outside the home which I have committed to I feel my anxiety heightened. Last night around the dinner table my adorable husband kindly stated that I need just have one day where I didn't feel anxious...Hmmm, Is it that obvious? Is it affecting how our "home feels"? Is is affecting my boys behavior?

After prayer, time in God's Word and a quiet rock on the front porch this morning I have come to the conclusion - God did not intend for us to be anxious or worried. We really only have to lead a simple uncomplicated life- One of Praise, Thanksgiving and Focus on Him. THAT"S IT!!!
When you look at it that way...there is nothing to be anxious about. If the "complicated" things during the day don't get done oh'well!

I feel when we first moved out here away from the city I found a slow, simple, peaceful life so fulfilling. However, over time I have met more people and gotten more involved in "things". While this is good...I do feel I have lost a peace that I savored.

I want to make a commitment to myself and to God through scripture:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all . The Lord id near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-is anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things." Philippians 4:4-8

"Make your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody." 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12

LOVE is in Our Home

Welcome to our Home built on and full of LOVE...

I am one who has to use the same wreath over and over again...
This wreath has been used different ways for different holidays. Nothing on it is permanent except the red berries. I thought there was no better way to celebrate the month of love then to share the love written to us in the Bible.

I love making pillows for my front porch rocking chairs. There is nothing better then a cozy porch...can you feel the LOVE?I am all about vintage Valentines cards.
Here is a few pictures of the LOVE in my home.
God is LOVE.

Aren't these two guys too cute?
Do you want to make your own LOVE pixies look
here .

I wanted as much LOVE as our home could handle so I made about 20 of these stuffed hearts to plant around the house.
Does you home have some Love?

A day with the animals

Ride'em Cowboys!

We loaded up and headed to the "Big City" rodeo.

It's so funny that the boys had everything they needed for a day of pigs, horses, steers...

Yes, I guess we are country folks!

Here are a few pictures of the day.

The boys learned a lot and were mesmerized by the actual rodeo (or plum worn out from walking through all the live stock!).

Here is the Break Down: Favorites
1. K-Man- "the grumpy bulls!", "the funny clowns"

2. Little Bit- "the cows and horses"

3. Momma- the stunt riders

4. Daddy- the bulls

As we walked through the livestock barns I kept telling my adorable husband which animals I thought were the "prettiest". I asked him if we would be able to pick out the animals the boys will show (when their old enough) by how pretty they were. Needles to say, he just laughed out loud! Hey, Mr. Adorable Husband, I only want pretty animals on our property!!

I will hang this picture on the wall!

There is no tackling, no yelling, no tattling, no whining...

Just a brotherly embrace!

What I learned:

1. Wipes a necessity for an un-potty trained two year old-OOPS!

(But I had the diapers...that a girl!)

2. There are some wonderful moms out there who are more prepared then me and are more then willing to share their wipes!

3. There are worse things then a mother watching her boy play football...Watching her son ride a bucking bull!!!

4. You actually use hair blowers (Ha!) to dry a steer.

5. Boots are probably the best foot wear when spending the day around animals!
