Back in the saddle again...

Tonight was our first time to have people over at our house other then family and friends from Houston. I have always LOVED having people in our home, but over the last year I have really spent my energy and time focusing on me and my internal struggles resulting from our move.

I can honestly say...I am comfortable with who I have become over the last year. Yes, I feel I'm a bit different-and that's ok! It has really taken taken me a full year to sit back and regain my bearrings.

Well, tonight I feel great! It was a blast to see the boys running around with new friends~ We all ate too much and kept the kids up too late- FUN! It feels wonderful to have our home open again to others!

Do you enjoy having people in your home?
Do you wish we would open our homes to each other more often?

Good for you! It seems simple, but those things are really hard to do when it takes getting out of your comfort zone.

I'm having a huge bbq in a couple of weeks. The point is to get to know people from church better. I'm nervous that I've bit off more than I can chew, but there's no going back now! :-) I am sure it will be fine. These are the things I always want to do, but never go for it, so now that I am, I am nervous, but excited, too.

Hospitality is a god given ministry, I think. Not everyone enjoys it and I know you do. I do too. Enjoy your new YOU. It's just a better version of the old. It's all about being better. Wasn't it in girl scouts that we pledged, "Make new friends but keep the old....one is silver and the other gold."

I do enjoy having people over - but I get too stressed over it, you know, wanting the house perfectly clean, perfect food, and all the rest. I remember growing up and having family friends that were just LIKE family - we'd come in through the back door, un-announced for the most part. That's the kind of "friendships" that I long for now - especially having kids. Like you, I don't have family close by - so good friends are really important to me.

I am so glad y'all had such a fun time! That's wonderful.

We like to have people over too, but still don't do it as often as we should.

We love to have people over and are trying to get back in the saddle again too! You are always a wonderful hostess and make people feel so welcome... definitely a strong point for the old and new Lacie!!!
Love ya!
