Thoughts on the Election...

We are blessed to be in a country where we have the freedom to vote for our President. With this wonderful freedom comes responsibility. This election has personally been a roller coaster ride of emotions for me, because I do feel the strong responsibly to fight for the "goodness" and "honesty"of our nation. It is a tough world out there and without God as the priority of our nation the wickedness will abound. We live in a selfish nation with "Me" as a focus...We need God as our focus! I have watched every debate, listened to talk radio, and read anything I can get my hands on to try to find a comfort or a peace...BUT guess where I found it???
"Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God." Romans 13:1
I have very strong opinions about each of the candidates that are running AND I will be placing my vote for the "team" that I feel is best for our nation. However, this passage along with the whole chapter of Romans 13 has granted me a peace and a strength for what the next four years have in store for our nation and my family (ie. what God has planned) I have read this chapter everyday for the last week and I will continue as the election moves forward.
I am blessed that God is in control and not mere men!

Oh, Lacie! I have felt this same way and am SO grateful that He is at the head, no matter what happens here on earth. Thanks for the wonderful reminder of that great scripture.

AWESOME post!

This is such a wonderful post. It is such a hard time for our country and it is nice to be reminded that our Father in Heaven is in control of everything. No matter what we will be okay so long as we follow Him. Thanks for sharing that scripture.

I guess I am still faltering in doubt. it's hard to think that our country and kids will be ok, with either of these two at the helm. I have not found peace w/ either one of them, though I do know that ultimately God is in control and that His people have been able to stand firm even when under ungodly leadership.

as a side note, have you looked at the Constitution Party? their platform may be more in line w/ your beliefs....

This is very inspiring, thanks! Another great biblical example to think about is Cyrus! God used him to rebuild the temple and fulfill His plan yet the bible says that Cyrus did not believe in God! It is good for us to remember that God can use even those who may not be walking with Him to fulfill His plan and that all we need to do is believe in Him and trust Him.

I love that you always turn to God and what He has to say on any topic. Thanks for the reminder to trust and rely on God even when something seems out of our control. Now to read Romans 13...
