Less then 24 hours!!!!

In less then 24 hours (at around 4:30ish AM my time tomorrow)I will be driving to the airport to start my girl adventure to Savannah Georgia! So, what does that mean for today...a VERY LONG LIST!!! It is around 11:30 AM and I am working like a mad woman trying to get the items on the list crossed off, however the more I cross off the more things seem to get added to the list!

1.Catch up on Laundry so the boys have soemthing to wear over the weekend
2.Tell my husband thank you a million times for taking time off from work and watching the boys so I can play!
3.Print out boarding passes
4.Print out maps for EVERYTHING
5.Pack
6.Get rental car info
7.Scream on the phone with my girlfriends that are going!
8.Get food ready for the boys over the weekend
...and the list continues

BUT...I will get the list finished somehow today (maybe by 4:00AM tomorrow-Ha!) and I will leave my home on Savannah...

To the "real" Savannah, Georgia! Woo Hoo! I know it will be even prettier in real life! I am so excited!! Watch out Savannah...here we come!!

We have a list of things we want to try to do:

Eat at Paula Deen's, "The Lady and Sons" restaurant
Put our feet in the Atlantic Ocean
Go to South Carolina- just to say we went to two states
Go on a ghost tour
Go on a "bus" tour of Savannah
Shop at the home town shops
Experience the history of Savannah through walking our legs off

AND I know there are many other things we will fit on our adventure and I know I will share them on our return!

I love to send postcards... sooo if you give me your address via e-mail I will send you an authentic Savannah, Georgia postcard! I will check my e-mail for the last time around 11pm my time-I have to get some sleep for my big adventure!

The Girl of Good Intentions!

Yes, that's me...The Girl of Good Intentions! I have been overwhelmed lately by the "what I want to dos"- Here are a few:

I want to:
1. Cook and have good healthy meals for my family daily
2. Read for enjoyment
3. Come up with a plan to organize my notes taken during class at church
4. Study...not just read the Bible
5. Work on something crafty at least once a week
6. Read up on the History of Savannah (for the trip next week!)
7. Work out (somehow...somewhere!)
8. Spend time with my adorable hubby
9. Spend time with the boys- not just yelling at them-Ha!
10. Nurture friendships

Seriously, the list could go on and on!! I just feel overwhelmed by emotions and desires that I am a bit paralyzed. I know I need to take small steps to get these things accomplished or started. I have been thinking of some of my sweet friends that are "girls of action"...Sometimes I feel consumed by the needs and wants of those around me that when it comes to my needs or wants I am too tired or too overwhelmed to focus and be a "girl of action". I am hoping typing this well spur me on to action!

Do you ever feel paralyzed by all the wants you want to do? What spurs you to action?

Middle Ground

I just got back from watching "Fools Gold" with some girlfriends of mine. The one overwhelming feeling when the movie was over was what a dull life I live. Now, just hear me out! I totally know that I am blessed...blessed so much it's ridiculous. However, I sit back and wonder if there is a part of me that is screaming for adventure. For something outside of the ordinary...

One of my all time favorite reads and movie is "The Magic of Ordinary Days". It's about a young woman who had dreams of becoming a archeologist and traveling the world, but a turn of events leads her to a small farm leading a "small" life. Over the course of time she finds the magic of her ordinary days and understands that there is adventure and love in everyday life.

So, as I drove home thinking (as I often do too much of)contemplating the adventure and romance of "Fools Gold" and the discovery and peace of "The Magic of Ordinary Days", I came to a conclusion that there just has to be a middle ground. A place where you grant yourself the adventures of a life time while understanding the thrill of the everyday. I want to find that ground.

On another thought...I watched "Sleepless in Seattle" the other night (a V2alentine gift from the Guys in my life). While watching the special features one of the producers stated that movies allow YOU to "fall in love" again along with the characters. You get the chance to have those emotions fresh like the first time YOU first fell in love... I guess that's one of the wonderful things about movies and books. YOU get to have those special emotions and adventures over and over again. Tonight, I was able to go on an exciting treasure hunt and find what "I" have spent "my" life risking everything for AND not even get wet once!

Any thoughts?

BINGO

Today at one of the nursing homes I work for a little 103 year old sweetie fell off her bedside commode trying to get back in her wheelchair. As she waited for nursing to check her out and then help her up she stated, "I have to get up because I will be late for bingo!" All I could think about was I hope she did not break a hip or injure herself in another way...AND she was thinking BINGO! I love working with these seniors! They often have such a fun perspective on life!

Do you feel comfortable around the elderly?
Do you have a fun story about how an elder put perspective in your life?

Behold...The Closet

It has been around 9 months since we moved to our "special place" in the country and I have just now tackled our closet. I think it's because you can just shut the door and pretend it is not there (unlike much of the house). However, the closet had turned into "baggage"...stuff that just wears you down when you look at it! So one day I just jumped in with both feet and didn't look back...

Through this challenge I disposed of (in various ways) items that I had been hanging on to for really no reason at all. As I moved them out of the closet I rewarded myself with new skirt hangers (which I now feel like I could not live without) AND...

Wood hangers (LOVE THEM)! They are worth every penny! Now I want to hang my clothes up because they look so good on the hnager. I also decided to hang up most everything...including tee-shirts and PJs. I just liked the idea-it really works for me. Less folding and I feel special even in a tee shirt!

All sweat shirts and sweaters have a home...And I know what is where! I have really liked these clear storage containers/bags. I went from several huge plastic tubs to these two see-through wonderful things!

Finally, I decided to store away all my spring and summer shoes in the back so they were totally out of the way.

And I have my winter shoes on the door! So easy!

Someone asked me to show my pantry door again...SO, here is my secret door with all of the loose goodies that can invade a pantry.

It's just an over the door shoe hanger. I have used it since we moved and I could not do without it!

What organizing have you done?...Where is your "baggage" spot?

pair of socks. My only thought was, "Why do I still have these hanging around my house?!?

After this find my adorable husband and I think we are going to get each other socks for Valentine's Day-HA!

Have you found things in your home you can't believe you still have?

The Boys are GREAT!

I haven't posted about the boys in a while so I thought I better give the grandparents what they want...Pictures and updates! The K-man has decided that making "crazy" faces are much more fun for the camera then a "normal" smile. He is still crazy about dinos and animals. He lines up his dinos and small animals on his toy box every morning. Yesturday we all played "The Three little Pigs"- taking turns blowing down the big blocks. He is really having to learn the true concept of sharing now that Little Bit is in all his things! The K-Man is a GREAT big brother. He always hugs Little Bit when he is upset and wants to show him how to do things (like use a spoon).
Speaking of Little Bit...He is a stinker! BUT a cute one! He is still attached to his blanket even to the point of climbing into the dryer to retrieve it! The poor rascal is cutting his back teeth and having a time with it! He is not sleeping well and food is not his friend right now. Don't get me wrong...he still eats a lot, he just wants more "soft" foods. He says words like- Bible, Book, Look, Hot, Cold, and Cracker (I think we are the only ones that know what he is saying...but it's clear to us!) The boys are playing better together. It is nice to have a Small bit of down time when they play. We have been feeding the boys well. The K-Man loves to show you his muscles following eating his meal- saying things like, "greenbeans make you strong...see!"
AND... what the older brother can do SO can the little brother! Here our Little Bit's muscles "like Samson"!

All in all we are doing great...busy, but great! I will try not to wait so long for updates and pictures!

Does your family read your blog?
Do they want family updates?
